Bring a Lenten Box home!

At the exit of St. Olav Cathedral we may find so called "Lenten Boxes" from Caritas. Together with prayer, fasting and confession, our Lenten Season should be marked by alms, says parish priest Egil Mogstad. Here the Lenten Box may challenge us and bring help to the poor and sick through Caritas, he says. [more]


Catholic Forum February the 20th: The Cistercian life - what does it mean to the Christians of today?

The Catholic Forum will start its 2018 winter/spring season with a lecture by Sr Hanne-Maria from Tautra Mariakloster: "The Cistercian Life - what does it mean to the Christians of today?". The lecture will take place at the council meeting hall, and will begin at 7 pm.[more]


The fundraising of the external lightning has reached the goal!

The happy news of the week is that we now - thanks to a private donator - have reached the goal of the fundraising for external lightning, which was kroner 180.000,-. The works will begin as soon as possible.

Ash Wednesday February 14th with distribution of ash crosses during Mass at 6 pm

Ash Wednesday the faithful are required to observe fast and abstinence. Observation of fast comprises all faithful from 18 til 59 years of age. Abstinence, that is the injunction of abstaining from meat, comprises everybody from the age of 14 years off. [more]


Celebrating the World Day for Consecrated Life, St. Olav domkirke, February 2nd.

[Translate to Engelsk:] The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord has for the last 20 years - after it was instituted by Pope St. John Paul II - been attached to the World Day for Consecrated Life. Here in Trondheim this is done by at gathering of the monastic sisters and brothers of our diocese.[more]


Presentation of Jesus at the Temple

Forty days after Christmas we celebrate the event which took place when the Holy Family travelled up to Jerusalem to comply with the demands of the Law that the firstborn should be presented to God. The event is related in Luke's Gospel (Luk 2,22-39). In English this day is traditionally called Candlemass, in Norwegian "Kyndelsmesse". [more]
