Catholic Forum February the 20th: The Cistercian life - what does it mean to the Christians of today?

The Catholic Forum will start its 2018 winter/spring season with a lecture by Sr Hanne-Maria from Tautra Mariakloster: "The Cistercian Life - what does it mean to the Christians of today?". The lecture will take place at the council meeting hall, and will begin at 7 pm.

During the last 19 years, Trøndelag has got two Cistercian Monastries, Tautra and Munkeby. Will this have any impact on Christ's Church in Norway, and on the individual Christian?

Sr. Hanne-Maria will try to convey some of what this old monastery order stands for today, an how the benedictine daily life can have a value in the Church and in our society at large. Does it imply anything at all that a group of women and a group of men pray the David psalms seven times a day and try to keep up manual work? Does it have any impact on the balance of the world that individuals take a promise to live without any rights to any own property? How do people from different cultures manage to live real close without being able to leave the monastery when they want to? What is the real value of obedience until death? And, what is the meaning of it all?
