Blessing of the organ and consecration of the baptismal altar on the feast of inauguration of St. Olav Cathedral!

Your bishop to be in Trondheim diocese will be blessed with a very beautiful church, said bishop Bernt Eidsvig to the priests who were gathered for their annual meeting, and the parish members who had come to celebrate the feast of inauguration of St. Olav Cathedral on Monday 19 November. In his homily he thanked for his years as apostolic administrator of Trondheim diocese, and was happy to bless the new organ as one of his last tasks.

During the last months Espen Selbæk and his team have been working hard to update the organ to 24 stops and 26 ranks. “The organ now has a beautiful and powerful sound worthy of this church,” said the bishop. “My congratulations! May organ and organist inspire all of you in prayer and praise, and may your hearts be lifted! My thanks to Espen Selbæk for understanding the demands of the room as well as the liturgy, and for his generous efforts during this project”, he concluded.

The pontifical mass was followed by the consecration of the baptismal altar, into which a relic of St. Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney, patron saint of priests, was placed.
