Catholic Forum 17. September: Hildegard von Bingen

Sr. Maria Hildegard Koch from Lunden Monastery will give a talk with the title: "The Holy Hildegard von Bingen - Medieval Woman, nun and prioress - a light for us today."

Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) was a German Benedictine Prioress, mystic and composer. She is considered the first representative for the German medieval mysticism. In the autumn of 2012 she was named Teacher of the Church by Pope Benedict XVI.

Sr. Maria Hildegard Koch OP, born 1946, hails from Germany. She entered the Dominican order in 1967. For 23 years she was leader of a children's community outside Köln. In 1990 she arrived in Norway and entered Lunden Monastery. In addition to her duties as spiritual guide and family advisor she is the Monastery's Guest Sister, their administrator and she teaches in the Novisiate.
