Christ Bless this Home! Epiphany on January the 6th

There is a beautiful Catholic tradition in connection with the celebration of Epiphany: the Blessing of peoples' homes. Originally, the parish priest would visit each home and write above the door with a piece of chalk. This is hardly practical in larger cities.

The lower part of the picture: "Christus Mansionem Benedicat" - Christ Bless this Home, written in chalk.

In our parish, those who attend mass that day or the following Sunday can take home with them a small adhesive banner with a gold inscription: 20+C+M+B+16. The numbers refer to the year and the letters CMB stand for Christus Mansionem Benedicat - Christ Bless this Home. Fasten it above the door, either inside or out.

Please note that we celebrate Epiphany this year with high mass 11:00 on Saturday 6 January. Mass in English will be as usual 18:00 on Saturday.
