John Paul II’s Square – soon to be a reality

On Pentecost Sunday the memorial plaque of St. John Paul’s visit to Trondheim in June 1989 was mounted on the bell tower of St. Olav Cathedral. The event was marked by bishop Bernt Eidsvig during a small ceremony. He expressed his joy at the prospect of the Square being named after the Holy pope John Paul II.

The Municipality of Trondheim has now officially approved of this name, and the only thing that remains is to decide a date for the naming ceremony. This will be announced in due time, says parish priest Egil Mogstad.
