This year we go into Passion Week and Easter in a way we never before have experienced.
We will be alone, all of us, without the fellowship we usually have, through Palm Sunday and «the Holy Triduum of Easter».
The words of the Psalm, that Jesus made his own, and that sounds through the Responsorial Psalm of Palm Sunday, we may this year experience as our own: «My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?» The insecurity and fear, the solitude and abandonment we are living during these weeks, may slowly be put in new light.
I have often said, as my own experience, that no Easter is the same, - there are always new aspects appearing that I did not think of before. This year I have been stopped at just these words, and I am discovering in a new way that Jesus lived this.
We have heard it so many times, that the way towards the Resurrection goes through crucifixion and death, - for Jesus. But what about us, his disciples, i.e. his pupils.
Our life on this earth is the School of God, according to St. Benedict, the Father of the monks. Are we this Easter going to learn one of the most difficult lessons on the program ?
Finally, we hope, yes, we believe, that God is not far from us. He is with us through these times, as through all times.
