Reactions to the new Stations of the Cross.

We have received reactions to the fact that the new Stations of the Cross for St. Olav Cathedral begins with the Last Supper. Voices in the parish claim that this is against all Catholic traditions.

It is of course quite correct that the traditional Stations of the Cross begins with Jesus being condemned to death, but to quote Bishop Bernt Eidsvig: "This is not a traditional Stations of the Cross. There are several versions - as it is with the Rosary." These Stations are based on orthodox processional icons, and they will probably be placed in the crypt and not be the main Stations in the cathedral.  We will soon publish an interview with sr. Else Marie, the artist behind the Stations, where she describes the process and the choices she has made.
