See the film about the brave youths in Columbia who dare to hope

We think you will want to support this year's Advent Action when you see what Caritas really can do to create hope among the young who have grown up in a society permeated by war and violence for the last thirty years. The young are trained to be the main movers in a process which will make Columbia a more peaceful society.

Eliana (18) is a student and volunteer leader in a youth group supported by Caritas Norge. The project aims to give the young people in five cities in Columbia positions of leadership in their local areas. They use dialogue rather than violence to solve conflicts. The Advent Action is the annual fundraising and solidarity action of Norway's Young Catholics (NUK). It is carried out in cooperation with Caritas Norge. Josef Ottersen has made a short but powerful <link http: external-link-new-window external link in new> film  about the work which is being done in Columbia.

In the pamphlet for the Advent Action Josef explains how he got the idea to the film.

«The idea was born at the national meeting 2013, during the discussion abut the Advent Action. I was doing my Master in Film Production, and it struck me that theses youngsters who longed for a future free of violence could be the tellers of the stories we need to hear. The concept of turning from evil to good really triggered me."

Jeg var i gang med masteroppgave i
filmproduksjon, og det slo meg at disse
ungdommene som lengter etter en
voldsfri fremtid bærer på historier vi
trenger å høre. Det var ideen om omslag
fra ondt til godt som trigget meg."
