Greedy excavators are lurching around venerable St. Elisabeth in Ila, the central Catholic memorial in Trondheim after the Reformation. But there is no need to fret. The demolition will only affect the extension added in 1953. The buildings which comprised the Church of Jesus' Sacred Heart, a Catholic school and later St. Elizabeth hospital will now be renovated and remodelled to serve as student housing. When we asked the Polish building workers if St. Elizabeth is secure in her niche during the demolition process they answered: "Elizabeth is looking after us you know, and we are looking after her."
