On the 4th. day of Christmas (28/12) we commemorate the boy children of Betlehem, the Holy Innocents, who were murdered as Herodes tried to eliminate the King of the Jews. Pudentius called them "the flowers of the Martyrs". This event constitutes one of Mary's Seven Sorrows: to comprehend the hate which others bore towards her son and Lord, and to accept that to save her own child would lead to the death for others.
