The Stations of the Cross for New St. Olav Cathedral in Trondheim!

The 14 splendid icons have been painted by sr. Else Marie Norland at Sancta Katarinahjemmet in Oslo. They are in the style of Russian processional icons from the Novgorod School. The originals may be seen in Nasjonalgalleriet (the Norwegian National Gallery) in Oslo.

Yet another important feature of our new church is thus in place. We already have the altarpiece,<link http: trondheim.katolsk.no nyheter enkeltvisning-nyhet nyhetssak olavsfrontalet-til-nye-st-olav-domkirke external-link-new-window external link in new> Olavsfrontalet, also painted by sr. Else Marie Norland.
The wooden boards are made by Petter C. Omtvedt - and was offered as a gift to Katarinahjemmet. The icons have been approved for use in our new cathedral by Bishop Bernt I. Eidsvig Can.Reg."

We have every reason to be joyful and grateful for the wonderful icons for our new cathedral - and which we have been able to purchase at a very reasonable price. The sisters at Sancta Katarinahjemmet have been extremely generous towards us, says Chancellor of the Catholic Church in Trondheim, Unn Lindgard Madsø. It was she who had the pleasure - and responsibility - of bringing the treasure home to St. Olav Parish.
