The statues for Holy Mary and St. Olav in new St. Olav Cathedral

In this way will Mary, Holy Mother of God, and St. Olav meet us in our new cathedal. Placed each in a separate side altar in the three-naved basilica, both are carved in timber from lime-tree, a timber much used for religious sculptures in Medieval times and thus considered to be a holy tree. Both sculptures are decorated with gold leaf and oil paint. The sculpture of Holy Mary is 140 cm tall, St. Olav 120 cm and still not completed. Both are produced by the Spanish firm Granda in Madrid.

The financing of these sculptures are as yet not in place, despite a large gift which has been received. One family has generously donated NOK 100 000 to Holy Mary, but the total cost amounts to NOK 140 000, so NOK 40 000 is still needed.

For St. Olav, NOK 83 000 has been received. Here another NOK 80 000 is required to cover the cost.

If you would like to help with the financing of these statues, the following account should be used: 4200 41 49437. Please include which of the two statues you wish your gift to go to. All amounts, big and small, are gratefully received.

If you wish to claim tax deduction for your gift, read here <link http: organisasjon norge bidrag index external link in new>les her how you do that. Remember to include which statue the money is given for.
