Wednesday 25. March: The Annunciation of the Lord

"The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary, and she conceived of the Holy Spirit" This is the introduction to the Angelus prayer. The prayer sums up the mystery of the incarnation - the angel's message to Mary and her Yes to give birth to Jesus Christ. When the church bells are rung three times three morning, noon and night, it is the Angelus which is prayed in churches and monasteries.
